MatchesFashion was a London-based luxury fashion retailer that helped define the editorial-luxury category alongside Net-a-Porter. The company went into administration in March 2024 and stopped trading; the website and app no longer operate, and Fetchi does not index it (there is no live MatchesFashion feed to compare against). MatchesFashion ran both a women's and a men's side under one roof for over two decades. The selection sat between Net-a-Porter's editorial cleanliness and Farfetch's breadth, with deeper coverage of British and emerging European designers than either, anchored by the Marylebone townhouse and member events.
Frasers Group acquired MatchesFashion from Apax Partners in December 2023. Within about two months Frasers concluded the restructuring the business needed would cost far more than it was willing to fund, and MatchesFashion filed for administration in March 2024. The website, app, and customer service shut down at that point; nothing has relaunched since. Any search result or cached page still describing it as active is out of date.
The brands MatchesFashion used to carry are still sold elsewhere: mainly at retailers such as Net-a-Porter, Mytheresa, Farfetch, and Browns, all of which overlap heavily with the old Matches British-and-emerging-designer edit. Those retailers are real, currently-operating businesses, so the comparison below is against live alternatives rather than MatchesFashion itself. While it operated, MatchesFashion was one of the strongest curators of British and emerging European designers, with deeper coverage than the Italian-heavy competitors. That depth is now split across Net-a-Porter, Farfetch, and Browns.
